Voices of Tomorrow – Celebrating Our Students and Strengthening Our Future

Saturday 7 February marked a truly inspiring milestone for Balham & Tooting Madrasah, as more than 400 members of our community gathered to honour the mid-year achievements of our children at the Voices of Tomorrow celebration.

The event brought together families, teachers, and supporters for an uplifting afternoon showcasing heartfelt recitations, confident presentations, and meaningful displays of progress. Our children shone with pride, demonstrating not only their learning but also their growing spiritual confidence and character.

Our Gratitude and Appreciation

This event could not have been possible without the tireless dedication of many individuals:

  • Mufti Fazal Khaliq, for his leadership, preparation oversight, and anchoring of the entire programme.
  • Maulana Hamzah, for his valuable support and guidance.
  • All teachers, staff, and volunteers, whose passion and commitment uplift our children every day.

We also extend special thanks to the generous sponsors who provided the refreshments — your support added warmth and hospitality to the occasion, making the gathering even more enjoyable for families.

Looking Ahead – Together

The success of Voices of Tomorrow reflects the strength, unity, and shared commitment of our community. We encourage all parents and supporters to stay engaged, volunteer, and continue nurturing this beautiful environment of learning and growth.

Together, we are shaping confident, grounded young people — the true voices of tomorrow.

Our Chair Board of Trustees, Sir Iqbal Sacranie, shared reflections on the remarkable journey of the Madrasah:

“Our Madrasah began its journey in 1972 at Balham Mosque, founded on the noble mission to nurture young hearts with Islamic values, knowledge, and a strong moral compass. Over the decades, it has flourished into a cornerstone of our community — a place where generations have been spiritually grounded and guided. Its significance today is even greater, as we continue shaping children who are confident in their identity, rooted in faith, and ready to contribute positively to society.”

Chair of the Management Committee, Arshad Daud, offered a deeply personal message:

“I stand here not only as Chair of the Management Committee, but also as someone who grew up within these very walls — and now my children are, too. This Madrasah has shaped us and continues to shape hundreds of young people every year. In a time when social media is eroding childhood innocence and moral ambiguity is widespread, the importance of a strong Madrasah education cannot be overstated. It provides spiritual uplift, structure, and guidance — building the foundation for our next generation to become responsible, principled citizens.”

He also made two significant announcements:

1) At the Year-End Celebration, one outstanding student — either the best boy or the best girl — will be awarded an Umrah ticket in recognition of excellence and dedication.

2) A new class for parents is being developed, allowing parents to learn and benefit while their children are in class. More details will be shared soon, Insha’Allah.
