Looking After Our Neighbours – A Shared Responsibility

At Balham Masjid & Tooting Islamic Centre, we are more than a place of worship — we are part of a wider neighbourhood. Our presence should always be a source of peace, respect, and positivity for those who live and work around us.
As we gather for prayer and programmes, let us remember that good character is from faith. The Prophet ﷺ reminded us clearly that true belief includes ensuring our neighbours are not troubled in any way.
Every action — how we park, how we arrive and depart, how mindful we are of entrances, driveways, and noise — reflects not only on ourselves, but on our community and our deen.
By parking considerately, keeping access routes clear, and showing courtesy at all times, we demonstrate the beauty of Islam in practice. Small acts of awareness make a big difference, protecting the strong relationships we value with our neighbours and ensuring the masjid remains a welcomed and respected part of the community.
Let us come together with the intention to pray with devotion and leave with compassion — honouring our neighbours just as we honour our worship.
Jazakumullahu khairan for your care, cooperation, and commitment to being exemplary neighbours.
