Qunoot-e-Nazilah

Qunoot-e-Nazilah is a special dua (supplication) that Muslims recite during difficult times—such as disasters, oppression, or major hardships—especially in the Fajr prayer.

What Is Qunoot-e-Nazilah?

The word “Qunoot” means making a humble dua.

“Nazilah” means a sudden disaster or calamity.

So, Qunoot-e-Nazilah is a dua made when the Muslim community faces serious difficulties.

It is a Sunnah of Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) and is recited in obligatory prayers during times of distress.

When Is It Recited?

During Fajr Prayer:

It is usually recited in the second rak'ah, after rising from Ruku (bowing) and before going into Sajdah.

In Times of Crisis:

It can also be recited in any of the five daily prayers when Muslims are facing natural disasters, war, oppression, or any major hardship.

How Is It Recited?

Position:

After Ruku in the second rak'ah, stand straight in the Qaumah position with hands by your sides.

Recitation:

The Imam recites the dua aloud, and the followers softly say “Ameen” after each part.

Wordings:

There is no fixed version. The dua can be adjusted depending on the situation. Generally, it includes asking Allah for help, protection, guidance, and mercy.
